Grocery Savings Vital in this Economy

Most people who open the Sunday newspaper and throw the coupon section in the trash don't realize the value of them. Now if you took a $10 or $20 bill and set it on fire they would have a fit. Isn't that pretty much what people do when they throw away Grocery Coupons? It is.

I can remember a time hearing people say they didn't want to bother with grocery coupons. As anyone who has ever tried knows it CAN be a bother if you're not organized. I too was once a novice couponer (If there is such a word).

I always liked to save but it wasn't until my husband was injured on the job that it became a necessity. I found an online site that provided tremendous information that was easy to use and I joined. Shopping with coupons has changed me forever. Now it's hard to buy anything full price when I know I can keep some of the money in MY pocket with the coupon. It's as good as cash. Even the News Media is showing families resorting to saving methods such as couponing and more. If you're not saving with coupons...WHY NOT?

Today I want to talk about the true value of a grocery coupons from the manufacturers perspective. To do that you have to ask the question why would they want to give away products or a portion of their profits? The answer for them is a no-brainer: To get you to try their products. Similar to loss leader products at the grocery store coupons may cause them to actually lose profits initially but they hope to gain you as a loyal customer once you try it and like it.

I must confess I have been guilty of buying a product because I got a good deal with never having the intention of ever buying it again. Guess what? They got me on at least more than one product that I was ONLY going to try but liked it enough to continue using it. The goal is to at least get people to try it even if it means a loss. It works for them and sometimes me too when I become a satisfied customer. As always keep watching for those coupons because some manufacturers continue to distribute even after the initial launch of their new products.

If you've ever talked to a real estate agent you've often heard them refer to the term: "Location, location, location". When it comes to coupons if someone asks what is the most important factor to help maximize savings I would answer: "organize, organize and organize".

When you consider that you could regularly save 50-60% off of your food bill by using free grocery coupons each week a little time spent organizing coupons is well worth it. Cutting a monthly food bill of 50% could mean a savings of $200 or more for a family of four! Now that's no small potatoes!

Double or Triple Coupons?

Every are of the country is different but in the past I had grocery stores who doubled coupons. On a rare occasion one store even tripled. Many items were free (except for sales tax). Gone are those days at least for me. Hope you have a store that at least still doubles. My suggestion is to organize at home before you go otherwise it can be chaos at the store and you won't get all the bargains possible.
